Once again I have had used some numbers for players on Kamloops that I cannot identify

The Portland Rain extended their unbeaten streak to five games, and recorded their second shutout of the year as Jessica Miller, Noelle Miller, and Mary Cascio all scored on the way to a 3-0 win over Kamloops UCC Alumni in a match played in front of about 75 fans at PGE Park on Sunday.

The Rain controlled the flow of play from the opening whistle, and it didn't take long to make the pressure pay off. In just the sixth minute, after a Kamloops attempt to clear a corner kick appeared to have rebounded off a Kamloops player's hand, the ball rebounded to Portland defender Jessica Miller, who cut to the right and then hit a laser from 12 yards out that went up into the roof of the net, just under the crossbar at the top right corner of the net, and the Rain had an early 1-0 lead.

Kamloops didn't have a good scoring chance until the 19th minute, when #12 took a pass from #9, and hit a shot from 15 yards out that went just over the bar. Five minutes later, Kamloops had another good chance when #5 hit a hard shot from 25 yards out, but it was right at Rain goalkeeper Kristin Dulacki. On the counterattack, Noelle Miller saw the Kamloops goalkeeper out of position when she was 35 yards out, and her attempt to chip a retreating keeper to tip the ball over the bar.

In the 29th minute, Mary Cascio turned inside off a run and cut across the top of the box, but her shot from 20 yards out was right at the Kamloops keeper. In the 39th minute, Portland's Mimi Osei-Agyemang got behind the Kamloops defense on a breakaway, but was stopped by the Kamloops keeper who charged out of the box and slid into the ball, deflecting the ball clear off her knees. Just a minute later, a Rain shot from the right side banged off the crossbar, but stayed out, and the half ended with the home side up 1-0.

Kamloops had some good possession early in the 2nd half, and a dangerous through ball in the 55th minute forced Rain goalkeeper Denise Hutchinson to scramble to cover the ball just before the Kamloops player could get her foot on the ball. Two minutes later, the Rain had another good chance when a cross from Tami Perkins to Janine Drake had Drake heading just wide right. Kamloops was also getting some possession in midfield, but were forced to take long shots that were easily collected. But in the 57th minute, #19 for Kamloops made a good run down the right side and angled in towards goal, but her shot from inside 10 yards went harmlessly into the side netting. In the 70th minute, another cross from Perkins to Boyce had another chance for a header on goal, but once again Drake headed wide..

But in the 75th minute, after a bad clearance by Kamloops was headed out to the left, a header into the box from the left side by Jessica Miller found Noelle Miller charging into the box, and her header from 8 yards out found the left side of the net, and the Rain had widened the lead to 2-0.

Just three minutes later, the Rain put another goal in when Osei-Agyemang played a pass to Noelle Miller, then in to Cascio, who chipped past the Kamloops keeper, and the Rain had a 3-0 lead.

The Rain had one last scoring chance in the 90th minute when Osei-Agyemang attempted to chip from 30 yards, but her shot was tipped over the bar as the whistle sounded, and the Rain had their third win of the season, and their second shutout victory.
